preoperative chest X-ray

Indications

• pre-operative evaluation*
  • intrathoracic procedure
  • history of cardiovascular disease
  • history of pulmonary disease
  • no longer indicated for smokers without cardiopulmonary disease
  • history of prior malignancy

* patients with chest radiograph within 6 months of planned procedure need not have it repeated unless clinically indicated
