phosphorylase kinase

Function

• catalyzes the phosphorylation of Ser in certain substrates, including troponin I
• allosteric regulation by Ca+2
• glycan biosynthesis; glycogen metabolism

Structure

• polymer of 16 chains, four each of alpha, beta, gamma, & calmodulin (delta)
• alpha & beta are regulatory chains, gamma is the catalytic chain, & delta is calmodulin
