• in non-infected macrophages, associated with the cortical microtubule network

Expression

• expressed in brain, thymus, spleen, bone marrow, lymph node > lung, GI tract

Pathology

• in mycobacteria-infected macrophages
  • becomes progressively relocalized (from microtule network) & retained around the mycobacterial phagosomes
  • retention on the phagosomal membrane prevents fusion between phagosomes & lysosomes
