- beta-1,3-N-acetylgalactosaminyltransferase active in synthesizing a unique carbohydrate structure, GalNAc-beta-1-3GlcNAc, on N- & O-glycans
- has no galactose nor galactosaminyltransferase activity toward any acceptor substrate
- KM=5.4 uM for UDP-GalNAc
- KM=11 mM for GlcNAc-beta-Bn
