Introduction
- creation of a clone or clones
- recombinant DNA techonology used to produce millions of copies of a DNA fragment
Comparative biology
Notes
- Dolly was cloned from the mammary cell of a 6 year old sheep with an unfertilized egg from another sheep[1]
- despite the consensus that Dolly's death was a result of a common lung disease, not related to her cloning, ref[3] suggests that Dolly's early demise was due to her start in life with a reduced number of telomeres, thus providing support for the telomere theory of aging*
* the difficulties with this argument are numerous
