Introduction
1st described by Cajal, so named because these fibers reach the CA1 from the entorhinal cortex via the alveus.
One of 2 neural pathways* projecting from the entorhinal cortex to the hippocampus. The medial region to the entorhinal cortex gives rise to the alvear pathway. The alvear pathway fibers synapse on basilar dendrites of hippocampal CA1 pyramidal cells.

It is so named because these fibers reach the CA1 via the alveus.
