Introduction
Death of tissue with denaturation of proteins. Coagulation necrosis develops over a period of hours, with the basic outline of the necrotic cell preserved for several days. Presumably, proteolysis is inhibited with the denaturation of proteins. Coagulation necrosis is characteristic of hypoxic cell death in all tissues except for the brain. Contrast with liquefaction necrosis.
