Laennec's cirrhosis

Introduction

Later stage of cirrhosis secondary to chronic alcoholism. Normal liver lobules are replaced by small regenerating nodules, separated by a fairly regular framework of fine fibrous tissue strands. Complications include portal hypertension, ascites & esophageal varices.
