Introduction
A very poorly differentiated squamous cell carcinoma.
Pathology
- syncytial groupings of polyhedral cells with ill-defined boundaries
- round to oval & uniformly vesicular nuclei
- prominent eosinophilic nucleoli
- amphophilic cytoplasm
- mature lymphocytes
- stroma
- variable density
- narrow septa of fibrovascular tissue
- necrosis may be present
Genetics
- may be associated with genomic integration of the Epstein-Barr virus
