Function

• aminopeptidase
• cleaves angiotensin 3 to generate angiotensin 4, a bioactive peptide of the renin-angiotensin pathway
• does NOT cleave angiotensin 1 or angiotensin 2
• proteolytic processing of bioactive peptides in testis & heart (putative)

Cofactor: binds 1 Zn+2 per subunit

Kinetic parameters:

• KM=6 uM for Asn-AMC

Inhibition:

• strongly inhibited by o-phenanthroline
• inhibited by arphamenine A
• not affected by AEBSF & E-64
