Function
- aminopeptidase
- cleaves angiotensin 3 to generate angiotensin 4, a bioactive peptide of the renin-angiotensin pathway
- does NOT cleave angiotensin 1 or angiotensin 2
- proteolytic processing of bioactive peptides in testis & heart (putative)
Cofactor: binds 1 Zn+2 per subunit
Inhibition:
- strongly inhibited by o-phenanthroline
- inhibited by arphamenine A
- not affected by AEBSF & E-64
Structure
belongs to the peptidase M1 family
