lipoprotein-X (LpX)

Structure

• characterized by:
  • low protein content
  • large amount of phospholipid & cholesterol

Pathology

• found in serum of patients with obstructive jaundice.

Laboratory

• serum protein electrophoresis
  • electrophorectically moves with beta-lipoproteins on agarose gel but moves cathodically behind the origin in agar gels
