Function
- may inhibit tumor metastasis
- in vitro, reduces cell motility
- may interact with PAK1 & PAK2
- probably interacts with TARSH
Structure
- belongs to the ABI family
- contains 1 SH3 domain
Compartment
Expression
- expressed in heart, lung, liver, pancreas, kidney, placenta > brain, skeletal muscle
- highly expressed in microglia
Pathology
- rare coding variant in ABI3 is associated with late-onset Alzheimer's disease
- deletion of ABI3 significantly increases beta-amyloid plaques, & decreases microglia clustering around the amyloid plaques[2]
