Rab-interacting lysosomal protein (RILP)

Function

• Rab effector
• late endocytic transport to degradative compartments
• regulation of lysosomal morphology & distribution
• induces recruitment of dynein-dynactin motor complexes to Rab7-containing late endosome & lysosome compartments
• promotes centripetal migration of phagosomes & fusion of phagosomes with the late endosomes & lysosomes
• can interact with either RAB7 or RAB34
  • interaction with RAB7 facilitates recruitment to phagosomes
