Function
- zinc metalloprotease
- aminopeptidase activity against neurogranin in vitro
- does not hydrolyze angiotensin-2
Inhibition:
- general metalloprotease inhibitors o-phenanthroline & batimastat
- amastatin (aminopeptidase inhibitor)
- Not inhibited by:
- 4-(2-aminoethyl)-benzenesulfonyl fluoride (AEBSF) (inhibitor of serine proteases)
- E-64 (inhibitor of inhibitors of cysteine proteases)
- TIMPS (tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases)
- Optimum pH is 8.0
Expression
- expressed in heart & liver > kidney, pancreas & testis.
- expressed in fetal tissues such as kidney, liver, lung & brain
