Function
- component of the ubiquinol-cytochrome c reductase complex (complex III or cytochrome b-c1 complex), a component of the mitochondrial respiratory chain
- may mediate formation of the complex between cytochrome c & cytochrome c1
- UQCRC1 is a subunit of both ubiquinol-cytochrome c reductase & mitochondrial processing peptidase
- does not seem to have a protease activity as it lack the Zn+2-binding site
Structure
- belongs to the peptidase M16 family, UQCRC1/QCR1 subfamily
Compartment
- mitochondrial inner membrane
