Indications
Specimen
- aerobic specimen (any site)
- urine or sputum should be obtained upon awakening
- minimum volume: 1 mL or as specified by site
- container:
- sterile, non-leaking container with a tight-fitting cap
Notes
- specimen should be transported to the microbiology laboratory within 1 hour of collection
- avoid contamination with normal flora from the skin, rectum, vaginal tract or other body surfaces
