Introduction

Inability to concentrate urine associated with chronic renal disease. The kidney is unable to form urine with a high or lower specific gravity than that of protein-free plasma. The specific gravity of urine thus becomes fixed at about 1.010, regardly of fluid intake or state of hydration.
