Introduction

Blood typing for erythrocyte antigens & screening for anti- erythrocyte antibodies.

Indications

• patients who may need blood; however blood transfusion is not yet indicated
• pregnant women

Notes

• in contrast to type & cross-match, type & screen does not tie up units of blood so that they are unavailable to other patients with a more urgent need
