Function

• zinc metalloprotease
• exhibits activity against angiotensin-3 in vitro
• does not hydrolyze neurogranin nor angiotensin-2

Inhibition:

• inhibited by the general metalloprotease inhibitors o-phenanthroline & batimastat
• inhibited by amastatin, an inhibitor of aminopeptidases

Kinetic parameters:

• Optimum pH is 7.0

Expression

• predominantly expressed in heart & testis
• also expressed at lower level in kidney, liver, pancreas, lung, placenta, brain, placenta
• expressed in fetal tissues including kidney, liver, lung & brain
