Function
- zinc metalloprotease
- exhibits activity against angiotensin-3 in vitro
- does not hydrolyze neurogranin nor angiotensin-2
Inhibition:
- inhibited by the general metalloprotease inhibitors o-phenanthroline & batimastat
- inhibited by amastatin, an inhibitor of aminopeptidases
- Optimum pH is 7.0
Structure
belongs to the peptidase archaemetzincin family
Expression
- predominantly expressed in heart & testis
- also expressed at lower level in kidney, liver, pancreas, lung, placenta, brain, placenta
- expressed in fetal tissues including kidney, liver, lung & brain
