Introduction

Amount of air inspired in one minute.

minute ventilation = tidal volume x respiratory rate

Procedure

  • start with a normal minute ventilation of 6-8 L/min
  • higher rates may be needed for
  • lower rates may be needed for
    • implementation of lung protective strategy[2]
