• highest levels in adult heart, brain & skeletal muscle
• lower levels in adult placenta, lung, kidney & pancreas
• abundant in testis & thyroid
• high levels in fetal brain
• lower levels in fetal lung, liver & kidney
• expression is independent of the cell cycle in lung fibroblasts
