Function
- required for spermatogenesis & male fertility
- role in normal structure of the intercellular bridge that connects spermatocytes & spermatogonia
- no protein kinase activity (in vitro) Structure:
- contains 3 ANK repeats contains 1 protein kinase domain.
- Ser-376 is present instead of the conserved Asp which is expected to be an active site residue
- contains 3 ANK repeats contains 1 protein kinase domain.
Compartment
- cytoplasm
- detected in the intercellular bridges that connect male germ cell daughter cells after cell division
Alternative splicing
