jaw thrust maneuver

Introduction

Maneuver for opening the airway of a patient with neck injury. The angle of the patient's mandible are grasped with the fingers of both hands (one on each side) & moving the mandible anteriorly. This movement raises the tongue away from the posterior pharynx, thus opening the airway.
