Function
- dual specificity protein kinase activity catalyzing autophosphorylation & phosphorylation of exogenous substrates onboth Set/Thr & Tyr
- probably plays a central role at & after the meiotic phase of spermatogenesis
- activated by autophosphorylation on Ser-220
- kinase activity is inhibited by SPRED1 (putative)
- autophosphorylated on Ser & Tyr
- interacts with TAOK2; leading to inhibit TAOK2 activity
- interacts with SPRED1; leading to inhibit activity (
- interacts with SPRY4
ATP + a protein = ADP + a phosphoprotein
Cofactor: Mg+2, Mn+2 (putative)
Structure
- the extracatalytic C-terminal part is highly rich in Pro
- belongs to the protein kinase superfamily, TKL Ser/Thr protein kinase family
- contains 1 protein kinase domain
