Function
- may control level of estrogen receptor by sulfurylating free estradiol
- maximally sulfates beta-estradiol & estrone at concentrations of 20 nM
- also sulfates dehydroepiandrosterone, pregnenolone, ethinylestradiol, equalenin, diethylstilbesterol & 1-naphthol, at significantly higher concentrations
- cortisol, testosterone & dopamine are not sulfated
3'-phosphoadenylyl sulfate + estrone <--> adenosine 3',5'-bisphosphate + estrone 3-sulfate
Structure
- homodimer
- belongs to the sulfotransferase 1 family
Compartment
