ureteroscopy (ureterorenoscopy)

Introduction

Endoscopic examination of the ureters. (see cystoscopy)

Indications

• urinary calculus
  • ureteral stone
• ureteral neoplasm

Procedure

• can remove stone with a small basket on the end of the endoscope

Complications

• risk of infections associated with reprocessed urological endoscopes, including cystoscopes, ureteroscopes, & cystourethroscopes
