Function
- cytokeratin-10 is generally associated with cytokeratin-1
Structure
- heterotetramer of 2 type 1 & 2 type 2 keratins
- belongs to the intermediate filament family
Expression
- cytokeratin-1 & cytokeratin-10 are expressed in keratinizing squamous epithelium & squamous cell carcinomas
- seen in all suprabasal cell layers including stratum corneum
Pathology
- defects in KRT10 are a cause of:
Polymorphism
- number of alleles are known that mainly differ in the Gly-rich region (positions 490-560)
