Origin
- basilar artery (just proximal to vertebral artery bifurcation)
- alternatively, may be branch of anterior inferior cerebellar artery
Distribution
- supplies membranous labyrinth of inner ear Enters the labyrinth via internal acoustic meatus.
Pathology
- occlusion (rare) results in central vertigo & deafness in corresponding ear
