Lhermitte's sign

Introduction

Flexion of the neck causes paresthesias radiating from the neck into the back & limbs.

Etiology

• cervical spinal cord disease due to:
  • multiple sclerosis
  • mantle field irradiation in the treatment of Hodgkin's disease
  • vitamin B12 deficiency
