Introduction
A instrument used for viewing the interior of the colon.
Considerations/available features:
- the smaller the diameter, the more comfort to the patient
- the smaller the diameter, the more difficult to pass through the loops of colon
- biopsy channel
- ease of use of air, water, suction
- videoscopes
- high-quality pictures
- good documentation
- videoscope's light is less intense
- less potential of harm to colonic mucosa
- transabdominal illumination as a clue to position in the colon is compromised
