Introduction
The most common benign breast neoplasm.
Epidemiology
- commonly occurs in young women in their teens & 20's
Clinical manifestations
- generally smooth, nontender & freely mobile
- the lesions continue to grow
Radiology
- initial evaluation should include ultrasound, since mammograms are generally unreliable in young women
Differential diagnosis
Management
- surgical excision if > 2 cm
- biopsy-proven fibroadenomas < 2 cm should not be routinely removed[2]
