Introduction
Primary care medical specialty provides comprehensive health care for the individual & family. The scope of family medicine includes all ages, both sexes, each organ system, & every disease.[1] Family medicine emphasizes disease prevention & health promotion.[2] Family medicine doctors in the United States may hold either an M.D. or a D.O. degree & must complete 3-year family medicine residency in addition to their medical degree, as well as board certification required by most hospitals & health plans.
