Introduction
Congenital anomaly with the viscera reversed so that the heart is on the right side (a mirror image of the normal).
Etiology
- ciliary dyskinesia (15%)
Genetics
- associated with defects in DNAH11
Clinical manifestations
- patients are asymptomatic
- apical impulse on right side
Diagnostic procedures
- electrocardiogram:
- inverted P waves
- inverted T waves
- QRS negative in ECG lead I & lead II
Radiology
cardiac silhouette on right (mirror image)
