Introduction
The infliction of anguish, pain or distress through verbal or non-verbal acts, not qualifying as physical abuse.
Including, but not limited to:
- insults
- threats
- intimidation
- humiliation
- harassment
- isolation
Warning signs:
- caregiver prevents elder from speaking or seeing visitors
- witholding affection
- fear
- depression
- isolation
- withdrawal
- resignation
- non-responsiveness
