Introduction
Unequal size of the two pupils, significant is > 1 mm difference.
Etiology
- Horner's syndrome on the side of the smaller pupil
- ptosis may be present
- 3rd nerve palsy on the side of the dilated pupil
- occulomotor abnormalities are generally present
- benign (simple) anisocoria
- monocular pseudophakia
Clinical manifestations
- in benign anisocoria, pupil inequality is variable
- may change from 1 hour to the next
