Brockenbrough's sign

Etiology
- Brockenbrough's sign is observed in association with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
Clinical manifestations
- on the beat following a premature ventricular contraction (PVC), the systolic ejection murmur increases in intensity where as the arterial pulse (carotid) volume decreases
- this occurs secondary to increased contractility & decreased afterload
