Introduction
The outer part of a lobule of the thymus.
- surrounds the medulla
- composed of masses of closely packed lymphocytes
Immature thymocytes are produced in the thymic cortex from blood-borne progenitors derived from the bone marrow. The immature thymocytes migrate through the thymic cortex to the medulla, proliferating & differentiating during the migration.
