chondrodermatitis nodularis

Pathology

• necrotic collagen & cartilage degeneration underlying an ulcer

Clinical manifestations

• papule with central ulceration & crusting
• occurs on the helix or antihelix of the ear
• lesions are very painful

Differential diagnosis

• commonly mistaken for basal cell carcinoma

Management

• wedge-shaped excision removing portion of underyling cartilage
