Etiology
Pathology
- air trapping in the gastric fundus below the gastroesophageal junction by fluid
- occurs in association with aerophagia when the patient lies supine after a large meal
- gas becomes trapped in the gastric fundus, unable to be belched because of fluid between the gas & the lower esophageal sphincter
Clinical manifestations
- postprandial fullness/discomfort/pressure
