Stimson maneuver

Introduction

Maneuver for treatment of anterior shoulder dislocation.

Procedure

• place patient prone on treatment table with affected arm hanging off edge of table
• apply weights to arm for traction
• relaxation with muscle relaxants & analgesia may be of benefit
