Clinical manifestations

  • generally history of overuse
  • pain in the anterior hip region
  • slight flexion of the hip with external rotation may relieve pain
  • tenderness is localized to the lateral border of the femoral triangle under the inguinal ligament
  • hip flexion against resistance should exacerbate the symptoms
