Introduction
3 or 4 crescentric fold's placed horizontally in the rectal mucous membrane.
Superior rectal fold:
- situated near the begining of the rectum on the left side
Middle rectal fold (Houston or Kohlrausch fold):
- most prominent, from the right side ca. 8 cm above the anus
Inferior rectal fold:
- situated on the left side ca. 5cm above the anus
