non-pitting edema

Introduction

Edema or swelling of subcutaneous tissue that cannot be easily indented by pressure & that indentation produced does not persist. It generally occurs as a result of increased amounts of interstitial tissue.

Etiology

• Graves disease (pretibial myxedema)
• early phase of scleroderma
• lipedema (women)
