filiform papilla

Introduction

Numerous elongated pinkish-grey, conical keratinized projections on the dorsum of the tongue. These papillae are:

  • arranged in V-shaped rows that are parallel to the terminal sulcus except at the apex of the tongue they follow a transverse pattern.
