common hepatic duct (hepatocystic duct)

Introduction
The part of the biliary duct system, formed by the confluence of right & left hepatic ducts. At the porta hepatis it is joined by the cystic duct to become the common bile duct.

- component of the biliary tract
- transport secretions from the liver into the intestines
Structure
- 6 mm in diameter
Branches
- at the porta hepatis joins the cystic duct from the gall bladder to become the common bile duct
