Introduction

Sharp spurs that grow from the laminae inferiorly into the ligamenta flava; restricted to the lumbar & thoracic regions, but most common & largest on T11. These spurs reduce the length of elastic bands, hence when the vertebral column is flexed, they are likely to be torn.
