Design:

2 x 2 factorial design

-	Aggrenox	clopidogrel
telmisartan	Aggrenox + telmisartan	clopidogrel + telmisartan
placebo	Aggrenox + placebo	clopidogrel + placebo

Primary endpoint: time to 1st recurrent stroke

Secondary endpoints:

• vascular events
• other designated vascular events
• stroke type
• all-cause mortality
