Introduction

Randomized trial, PTCA vs CABG in patients with multivessel coronary artery disease.

12 years of followup

Results:

  • compared with PTCA, CABG associated with greater improvement in physical functioning in 1st 3 years, but not after
  • CABG initially more expensive than PTCA (53%) but not averaged over 12 years $123,000 vs $121,000 (over 12 years)
