Introduction
Design:
- identified elderly at risk for functional decline or death
- created quality indicators based on literature review & expert panel for 22 conditions
- examined the process of care (by chart review & structured interview for each condition
Results:
- overall, 55% of quality indicators passed
- compliance for geriatric conditions was worse than general medical conditions (31% vs 42%)
- care for specific conditions varies greatly
- stroke 82. end-of-life care 9%%
