Epidemiology

• more common in elderly pathology:
• interspinous bursitis
• degenerative changes of the bones & soft tissues
  • adjacent spinous processes in the lumbar spine rub against each other
• L4-L5 most commonly involved, but has been reported in cervical spine clinical manifestations:
• low back pain
